What’s Your Crowd Noise?

Hi there. If you are a fan of sports, you may have noticed a strange phenomena happening right now in televised sporting events. Even though there is no crowd in the stands watching, there seems to be a crowd cheering and jeering along with the action. I am guessing they have that to bring in a sense of normalcy for us as we watch. It made me think though. We all have internal monologues. We all are giving ourselves messages all the time. Sometimes that message is positive, but often it is negative (and let’s not forget the times when it is simply a song you can’t get out of your head. Anyone else?). Our internal monologues are automatic. Most of us have largely the same one over time and have been working on it since we were small. It is normal and comforting and you probably don’t give it much thought. Like the crowd noise watching a sporting event. This can be problematic if your crowd noise (in your head) is really critical. It can create undue anxiety and it can impact your confidence and the things you are willing to take chances on or try (in a positive way). I want to softly suggest spending some time listening to your crowd noise. Pay attention to the messages you are giving to yourself. You might be surprised. Next week, expect a little bit about what to do if you find your crowd noise to be extra negative.

Thanks for reading. Take care,

AmyZ
