South Africa 826. Baboons 2009

Eventually we have to talk about something besides COVID-19 and quarantine, right?? I will be ready when that happens. But for now, it really looms large for many of us. During this whole thing, I have noticed that though people crave contact with others and really miss the casual social aspects of their lives, they seem to turn inward instead of reaching out. I’ve noticed it in myself. I think this is understandable because we no longer are directly in the know about what our loved ones and friends are up to. And we don’t want to impose. Or reach out to often. We don’t want to bug. But what that does is it isolates us from our supports. I am here to tell you, reach out. However you can to those you care about. Check in on them, talk on the phone, text, video calls, whatever it takes. Go sit in their yard while they are on the porch. Anything to keep feeling connected. We are stronger when we feel supported and when we feel like we have someone to turn to. Reach out to your people. They want to hear from you. And you will feel better.

If you are feeling like you don’t have any people, reach out to a professional. You can contact me through this website. Or contact the Crisis line at 1-800-273-8255. You can chat with someone through this weblink: https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/chat or you can text with someone here: Crisis Text Line- Text “HOME” to 741741.

Until next time, Thanks & take care,

AmyZ
