      <image:title>About Me - Amy Ziegenhorn, LMHC</image:title>
<image:caption>I have always had a passion for mental health and providing support and assistance to people. For many years I have worked in the Human Services field which helped me build a trauma-focused perspective. I came to understand that people are doing the best they can in the circumstances they find themselves in and when things are overwhelming, they need assistance, not judgement. I worked for a number of non-profit organizations in the area before starting my own practice. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminology. Then for my graduate work, I received a Master’s in Counseling with an emphasis in Mental Health and School Counseling from Drake University. My experience includes working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and certified in TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). I am licensed as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the State of Iowa. In addition, along the way I earned a Master’s Degree in Forensic Science from Nebraska Wesleyan University.</image:caption>
