I Want My Cup To Be Half Full

Hi there. To build on what I talked about last week, one thing that can be considered part of our defense against stressors and negative vibes in the world is to build an optimistic attitude. Have you ever known someone who ALWAYS looks on the bright side? Does that seem exhausting? Maybe, but it also helps to manage stress. For most of us I think it becomes an intentional act to seek out a positive in any giving situation or find that silver lining or however you want to frame it. In the times we live in seeking out a way to see positives becomes even more important. This is a skill you can hone just like any other. The more you practice intentionally finding a blessing or an upside, the easier it becomes. And here’s a little bit of information: when you focus on finding positives, it becomes easier to see them simply because you are looking. And knowing there are positives can soften all the negatives. If you are looking for reinforcements for negative outlooks, you will see them, because you are seeking them. I hope that makes sense. It’s an important concept and can make a big difference in your ability to tolerate stressors. Again, it doesn’t come easy for everyone, but you can train your brain to think that direction. And you will see a difference.
